This is an original Eames molded fiberglass DAX armchair with the H-base (also known as the X-base), produced by Herman Miller in the late 1960s to early 1970s. The shell is made from fiberglass-reinforced polyester with visible fibers throughout, a hallmark of early production methods. The color is a deep olive green, a standard factory color from that era.
The underside of the shell includes an embossed Herman Miller logo along with the Summit Plastics “S” stamp, indicating it was manufactured by Summit Plastics, a subcontractor used by Herman Miller during this period. The chair also features the original four metal glides on the base and shows typical light wear consistent with age, but no structural damage or repairs.
Approximate dimensions:
- Height: 31.5 inches
- Width (arm to arm): 25 inches
- Depth: 24 inches
- Seat height: 18 inches
A well-preserved example of an iconic mid-century design, this chair retains its original finish and patina. No alterations or restoration work has been done. A real beauty, folks.
