This striking mid-century modern sofa combines seating, function, and atmosphere in one unified design. Flanking the sofa on each side are integrated walnut side tables, each supporting a sculptural cantilevered arm with a suspended lantern-style lamp. The effect is architectural yet inviting, blending clean lines with warm materials.
Though unmarked, the piece was at one point attributed to John Keal for Brown Saltman, whose work often emphasized modular living and built-in utility. It’s also very similar to Martin Borenstein comps I’ve come across. The original woven upholstery remains in excellent condition, offering both comfort and authenticity.
A rare example of mid-century design that integrates lighting and furniture into a single form, this sofa creates a complete environment, equally suited for conversation, reading, or simply enjoying the glow of the lamps.
